CityLan
A CityLan LAN is a dedicated ethernet connection between two datacenter locations in Amsterdam. It
can be used by an ISP, for example for easy, fast and cost-effective network expansion. But it can also be
used to interconnect between two different parties, for example to buy or sell services.
The LAN includes two ports on any NL-ix datacenter and a dedicated LAN between those ports that can burst
upto the port speed.

| Availability |
A NL-ix CityLan provides a dedicated ethernet connection between any combination of datacenter locations.
|
| Packet size |
A City LAN supports standard size ethernet packets with 1500 bytes payload including 32 bytes IP header.
You will not be able to use dot1.q trunks over a City LAN.
|
| Layer3 |
CityLan's assume the customer connects layer3 equipment (routers) on each port and allows one single MAC address
per port. If you are interested in a layer2 LAN, where you can interconnect switches or hubs, and will be using
multiple MAC adresses on each endpoint, please contact us.
|
| Full speed |
The full port speed is available. 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.
|
| Security |
A CityLan connection is very secure as it provides a direct connection between the endpoints that can
not be accessed be any other user or port.
|
| Fast delivery |
We guarantee a delivery time of 10 working days for a City LAN. Generally it is delivered even much
faster then that.
|
| Cost effective |
Other alternatives for a direct connection, like fibers, wavelengths or leased lines, are substantially more
expensive, have a longer installation times and inherently less flexible. CityLan costs translate to
2,50 Euro per Mbit/s per month on a 100 Mbit/s connection.
