FreeBIX and NL-ix have signed an agreement to join forces in Belgium

In a recently signed contract, FreeBIX and NL-ix have agreed to work together and integrate all services of both IXs. Present members of the FreeBIX have received a proposal to connect to the NL-ix. With such connection, FreeBIX members will obtain access to at least 300 networks of present members of the NL-ix.

This is an important step for the members of the FreeBIX , states Geert Hauwaerts, chairman of the FreeBIX. The new offer, which provides single access to FreeBIX, NL-ix and AMS-IX members, creates a lot of new value for our members. The Belgium market will be enriched by a new player with an extensive services portfolio, and we are enlightened already by the positive response of our members.

The cooperation with the FreeBIX generates instant benefits for both parties: more networks to exchange traffic with for all members. All parties involved can now directly exchange cross border internet traffic, answers Jan Hoogenboom, CEO of NL-ix. And not just normal peering traffic, but also new services like transit and Ethernet circuits can be provided. Apart from that, NL-ix can start right-away with some interesting Belgium customers during our current Belgium network roll-out in Antwerp and Brussels.
