Policy: Netflix streams our content payload via one of three methods: A) An embedded cache inside of your network, provided you meet certain traffic criteria (generally greater than 4Gbps of traffic). We call this the "Open Connect Appliance" B) PNI (SFI) at common private peering locations C) Public Peering (SFI) via IXs at common public peering locations Please contact us at peering@netflix.com to help determine the best method to efficiently serve Netflix traffic to your users. To help us expedite your inquiry, please be sure to provide your AS as well as any downstream ASes (or a IRR record that can be expanded) and the locations that you wish to receive Netflix content at. We will contact you as soon as possible. Note that Netflix does not operate a backbone; you will receive prefixes relevant to the region that you interconnect in only. ***NOTE ON FRANKFURT, GERMANY*** Netflix will not be on DE-CIX Frankfurt. We encourage you to join ECIX and will also allow PNI from any network that desires to interconnect with us at Equinix FR4 & FR5. Netflix is happy to provide your network with a FREE ECIX port; please email ecix@netflix.com for more details. ***NOTE ON MED SCHEME*** We accept your MEDs within a relevant geographical area (example: we will not serve UK content from Atlanta), but we automatically add a med of 50 to PNI and 100 to IX in addition to the MED you send us. We use MEDs BEFORE geolocation - they will always override our geolocation service. ***NOTE ON WEBSITE*** Our website, http://www.netflix.com , is operated from the AWS Cloud in relevant geographical regions. Simply looking at routes for www.netflix.com is not indicative of whether or not you have connectivity to Open Connect. The best way to check is to expand AS-NFLX and refer the individual networks contained within there or contact us at peering@netflix.com for assistance.

Our policy is generally open but if we see you through route servers and we don't exchange more than a few megabits of traffic to yourselves then we may ask that sessions are kept to route servers only We may decide to only send our regional routes to an ISP where sending all of our routes may have a detrimental effect on the latency and routing of existing traffic. Our regions are Europe, Asia and America currently. Where we have low port speeds onto an exchange, we will happily peer with ISPs (and actively want to establish peers there) but we consider these backup routes so you may not see much traffic from us. We recommend a max-prefix value of 500, and prefer md5 passwords on sessions. We usually will accept private peering requests for peers where we exchange 75Mbps or more. PNIs must be a minimum of 1Gbps and we aim to start looking at upgrading capacity once a PNI regularly exceeds 50% Most of our traffic is IPTV from multiple popular services, if you'd like to discuss us sending our traffic to you via alternative routes then please get in touch with our Support contact.

Please set maximum number of allowed prefixes to at least 8000! We support both MD5 authentication and TTL security, but neither is required. When connecting over AMS-IX (or NL-ix in Amsterdam), we always like to have sessions with both of our routers in Amsterdam for the purpose of redundancy in case of failures and during maintenance. Please note that we prefer to limit peering over NL-IX to sessions between routers connected to NL-IX in the same country/city. These are the locations and IP addresses of our NL-IX routers: Amsterdam: 193.239.116.17 and 2001:7f8:13::a502:562:1, 193.239.116.3 and 2001:7f8:13::a502:562:2 London: 193.239.117.31 and 2001:7f8:13::a502:562:3 Paris: 193.239.117.35 and 2001:7f8:13::a502:562:4 Frankfurt: 193.239.117.53 and 2001:7f8:13::a502:562:5

Policy: Please see AS3856 - http://as3856.peeringdb.com - for details. All peering information is under AS 3856. With AS 3856 we collect, archive, and display peering routes from exchanges around the world. With AS 42, we do Anycast hosting for Root-Servers and about 110 gTLDs/ccTLDs. For maximum performance and reliability for the TLD servers we host, we attempt to peer with all participants at each exchange. The volume of traffic associated with these services is very small, but we believe it to be particularly valuable.
