Bandmarket Distribution

Bandmarket is a universal Service Distribution and Delivery solution, takeing advantage of the huge datacenter coverage of NL-IX with 30+ sites, even in the more exotic locations.

Applications

Providers can benefit from Bandmarket by being able to extend their ability to connect more potential customers for e.g. their Usenet News, Voice over IP, Content Delivery, Last Mile Access, Global Transit or other (new, experimental or future) community specific solutions, but it is also usefull for delivering National or Internatonal Transport Capacity based on for example ethernet, IP VPN's or MPLS.

Provider side

Port and VLAN
Providers can apply the Bandmarket service by connecting to a central 1 Gbit/s, or 10 Gbit/s, dot.1q multiple VLAN trunk port.
On this port, the Provider can then provide its services to many of its enduser customers via multiple dedicated VLAN's.

The Provider is charged by NL-ix with a flat rate fee for the central port (10 VLAN's included), regardless how many enduser customers are connected, or how much bandwidth is applied per customer. As long as the Provider's bundle of VLAN's does not run out, the enduser customer is not charged for the VLAN by NL-ix.

Enduser customer side

At the other end, the enduser customers can connect to the carrier on their standard NL-ix ports (of 10 Mbit/s, 100 Mbit/s, or 1 Gbit/s) via an additional dedicated VLAN to the central Provider port.

  • If the customer is already connected to NL-ix, he can access the Provider for free;
  • If the customer is not connected to NL-ix yet, he pay's a modest port fee to become connected;
  • The Provider normaly buys a bundle of VLAN's with it's BandMarket port, so the VLAN is normally free for the customer.

This means that, with Bandmarket, Providers can approach 240+ NL-ix members with the argument that they can additionally connect to Providers' services at no additional connection costs.

OnePort™ concept
As almost all of our services, BandMarket services are delivered via the NL-ix Port. This port is the basic product for all NL-ix Peering and Community solutions and can also be used in combination with the NL-ix Metro Ethernet solutions.
By purchasing an NL-ix Port, most of the Peering and Community services become available for free, and/or additional Metro-Ethernet services will be much cheaper. Speeds of 100 Mbit/s, 1.000 Mbit/s and 10 Gbit/s can be provided.

See our Pricing Sheet for the current charges.
See our BandMarket Product Guideline how this solution can be composed out of the NL-ix products.
